day 9: saint-côme-d’olt to espalion

This morning the sun came out for most of the walk from Saint-Côme-d’Olt to Espalion, just 6 km (3.75 miles) away. Looking at AllTrails I expected a steep climb out of Saint-Côme-d’Olt, as the trail takes a direct route over the mountain to Espalion. But the trail is under construction, and detours on the road that follows the Lot river. Between the rushing of the river, the sun and the happy birds, it was very pleasant – especially since unlike the trail, the road didn’t have any hills!

Espalion has a number of interesting structures, including the “Old Bridge” that was originally built in the 11th century.
